Spelling Check, Find and Replace, AutoCorrect (वर्तनी जांच और सुधार)
Proofreading long official documents manually is time-consuming and prone to human error. Word processors feature built-in automated linguistic proofing tools to detect grammatical mistakes, replace repeated errors, and autocorrect typos on the fly.
1. Automated Spelling & Grammar Checking
As you type, the word processor continuously cross-references your words against its internal dictionary:
- Red Wavy Line (लाल टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी रेखा): Indicates a Spelling Mistake (वर्तनी त्रुटि) or an unknown word (such as an Indian proper name like "Ayodhya" or "Sumit").
- To fix: Right-click the red-underlined word to select the correct spelling, or click "Add to Dictionary" so it is recognized permanently.
- Blue Wavy Line (नीली टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी रेखा): Indicates a Grammar or Punctuation Error (e.g. missing comma, wrong tense, or extra spaces between words).
Proofing Function Keys (CCC Exam Special):
F7: Launches the Spelling and Grammar Check dialog box.Shift + F7(Writer:Ctrl + F7): Opens the Thesaurus (शब्दकोश), providing a list of synonyms (पर्यायवाची) and antonyms (विलोम शब्द) for the selected word.Shift + F7(in Writer): Automatic Spell Checking toggle.
2. Find and Replace (ढूंढना और बदलना)
When drafting legal affidavits or institute notices, you might need to change a company name across a 50-page document:
- Find (खोजें):
Ctrl + F - Opens the Find bar at the bottom of the screen to highlight every occurrence of a specific word or phrase.
- Find and Replace (खोजें और बदलें):
Ctrl + H - Prompts you for two inputs:
- Find: The word you want to locate (e.g.
2025). - Replace With: The new word you want to substitute (e.g.
2026). - Replace: Replaces only the currently highlighted occurrence.
- Replace All: Scans the entire document and substitutes every single occurrence in a split second.
- Match Case (केस मिलान): When checked, respects capital and small letters strictly (e.g. searching for "Apple" will ignore "apple").
3. AutoCorrect and AutoText
- AutoCorrect (स्वतः सुधार): Automatically corrects common typing errors instantly as soon as you press the spacebar.
- For example, typing
