In multi-branch companies, annual budgeting, or regional operations, data is commonly distributed across identical worksheets (e.g., 'Jan', 'Feb', 'Mar'... or 'Branch1', 'Branch2', 'Branch3'). Manually adding cells across 12 sheets ('=Jan!B2 + Feb!B2 + ...') is slow and error-prone. 3D Formulas and the Consolidate tool provide instant multi-sheet rollups.


1. 3D Formulas: Piercing Through Worksheets

A 3D Formula refers to the exact same cell or range across a continuous stack of worksheets using a colon (':') between the first and last sheet tab names:

2. The Consolidate Tool (Data Tab)

What if the branch worksheets do not have identical layouts (e.g., Branch 1 lists 'Salaries' on row 4, but Branch 2 lists 'Salaries' on row 9)? 3D formulas fail when cell coordinates differ. The Consolidate tool resolves this by aggregating based on row and column labels:
